Explosion at IOCL Refinery in Vadodara, Gujarat

An explosion and subsequent fire occurred at the Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) refinery in Vadodara, Gujarat, resulting in the deaths of two workers and injuring another individual.

The incident took place on Monday, November 11, in the afternoon when a blast erupted in a benzene storage tank, leading to flames that quickly spread to adjacent tanks. Firefighting teams from surrounding areas were mobilized to control the blaze, while IOCL deployed its water sprinkler system to aid the efforts. For safety, refinery operations were temporarily suspended.

All employees in the vicinity were evacuated promptly.

At this stage, the exact cause of the explosion remains unknown, and authorities have begun an investigation to determine what triggered the fire.
