Chemical Warehouse Fire Prompts Worker Evacuation in Sydney
Early this morning, over 40 employees were compelled to evacuate a chemical warehouse in Western Sydney as it was overtaken by a large fire, resulting in dense black smoke covering the area.
Approximately 60 firefighters were dispatched to address the fifth alarm fire—the highest alert level—at the single-storey Industrial Galvanizers facility on Amax Avenue in Girraween around 11:45 am today. All individuals were safely evacuated, and there were no reported injuries.
Thick plumes of black smoke emanated from the warehouse, visible from several surrounding suburbs.
Emergency services indicated that the Industrial Galvanizers warehouse contained a significant quantity of chemicals, which posed a risk of exacerbating the fire.
