Engine Fire Triggers Emergency Evacuation of Delta Flight in Orlando
A Delta Airlines flight preparing to depart from Orlando International Airport was evacuated Monday morning after an engine caught fire, prompting a swift emergency response.
The aircraft, scheduled to fly to Atlanta, Georgia, had just left the gate around 11:15 a.m. ET when flames were observed in the tailpipe of one of its two engines, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Emergency Response and Evacuation
All 294 people on board—including 282 passengers, 10 flight attendants, and two pilots—were safely evacuated using emergency slides. Airport ground crews assisted in guiding passengers away from the aircraft, as seen in videos circulating on social media.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the FAA confirmed that the fire was quickly contained and extinguished.
Delta’s Statement and Investigation
In an official statement, Delta explained that its flight crew followed established safety procedures upon noticing the flames. The airline also stated that its maintenance team would inspect the aircraft to determine the cause of the fire, as reported by ABC News.
