Explosion at Biodiesel Waste Facility Causes Injury in Defiance, Ohio
An incident unfolded in Defiance, Ohio, where emergency responders from the Defiance Fire Department and Police Department swiftly reacted to reports of an explosion around 4:00 PM local time. Upon their arrival, it became evident that visible smoke and flames engulfed the facility, with signs of structural damage indicating an explosion had transpired, as stated by fire officials.
To ensure public safety, a one-block security perimeter was established. Concurrently, responders discovered a grass fire in an adjacent lot, ignited by the initial explosion. Additionally, there was concern for an employee who could not be located.
Firefighters bravely entered the premises, conducting a thorough search and initiating fire suppression measures. Fortunately, they received confirmation that the missing employee had been transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and subsequently discharged.
