Explosion at Fuel Station in Chechnya Claims Four Lives, Including Two Children, and Injures Five
A deadly fire broke out at a fuel station in Chechnya, Russia, resulting in the deaths of four people, including two children, as reported by emergency services.
Authorities shared images showing over two dozen firefighters working to control the flames at a nearly destroyed fuel station in Grozny, the capital city of Chechnya.
“Tragically, four people lost their lives, two of whom were children,” Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed.
According to officials, the fire was triggered by an explosion in a fuel tank at the station on Saturday, local time. Five others sustained injuries in the incident.
Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov stated on Telegram that he was personally overseeing the situation. He also vowed that those responsible for the explosion would be held accountable, though he did not elaborate further.
The fire has since been extinguished, according to the statement.
Authorities added that the fuel station is located on Mohammad Ali Avenue, near Grozny’s city center.
Videos circulating on social media captured the moment of the explosion, showing flames towering into the sky.
