Fire Breaks Out at Oil Refinery in Western Turkey
A fire erupted at the TÜPRAŞ Refinery in the Aliağa district of İzmir, originating in the U-7000 unit, which contains the facility’s crude oil furnace.
The blaze escalated rapidly, prompting the refinery to seek assistance from a nearby fire department. Firefighting teams worked to bring the situation under control, though authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
The flames and smoke were visible across a large area, and residents reported feeling the impact of the incident in Aliağa’s town center. Nearby residential quarters at the Petkim petrochemical plant also experienced tremors, according to local reports.
TÜPRAŞ later announced that the fire was brought under control within an hour and confirmed that no injuries occurred.
