Fire Incident Halts Operations at Venezuela’s Cardon Refinery
The Cardon refinery in Venezuela experienced a disruption in its operations when a fire broke out in the early hours of Friday (22 March), causing injuries to two workers.
According to insiders familiar with refinery operations, the fire ignited around 5 a.m. local time following a significant explosion and was brought under control a few hours later.
Sources attribute the incident to a gasoline leak, leading to the fire’s initiation.
The fire extended to a power substation within the refinery complex, resulting in a power outage and subsequent shutdown of three active crude distillation units.
Reports indicate that one worker sustained minor burns on the arm, while another was hospitalized due to burns on the hair and face.
