Fire Incident on Norway’s Statfjord A Oil and Gas Platform

A fire incident occurred on Norway’s Statfjord A oil and gas platform located in the North Sea during the early hours of Wednesday, according to operator Equinor EQNR.OL. The fire was successfully extinguished after approximately 90 minutes, Equinor confirmed.

Prior to the fire outbreak, production had been halted due to scheduled maintenance, as per a spokesperson’s statement.

Contrary to earlier reports from local news sources, Equinor clarified that there was no evacuation of personnel from the platform during the incident.
